Entries have now closed for the 2018 Vision Insurance Awards Programme.

Thank you to all those members who have entered the separate award categories.  Judging, once again, will be challenging and the Association looks forward to announcing the winners at the Taupo Conference in May 2018.

 

Think about entering for next year's Awards

It is never too soon to start thinking about entering for the Awards Programme!  Start thinking about it now so that when entries open - you will be ready to start work on your entry form.

 

About the Programme

The Awards Programme, introduced in 2016, was developed to celebrate excellence in hospitality in the bed and breakfast and hosted accommodation sector. Designed to provide a benchmark of excellence and inspiration to other hosts along with showcasing the best of New Zealand hospitality within our accommodation sector, the Programme has now been redeveloped to ensure all Association members are able to be celebrated and recognised.

There are now four award categories:

  • Vision Insurance Supreme B&B Business of the Year Award (previously our Excellence Award). This Award is the highest recognition for commitment to providing exceptional hosted accommodation;
  • Vision Insurance Emerging B&B Business of the Year Award - open to operators who have been in business for less than two years;
  • Vision Insurance Host of the Year Award - to recognise our wonderful members who go out of their way to provide an exceptional hosted experience for their guests; and
  • Bed & Breakfast Association NEW ZEALAND Member Awards - for members who have made a significant contribution rendering outstanding service to the Association.

A mentoring programme has been developed to work in conjunction with the Award Programme and is available to all members who enter.  Donna Brooke and Janet Dixon (Board Members / Mentors) will not write your entry for you but they will provide you with guidance where you need it. To become part of the mentoring programme you will need to complete an "Expression of Interest" and return this as soon as you can.

The judging criteria have also been expanded and clarified. Members working their way through the judging criteria, and with their Business Mentor, will find at the end of the process when their entry form is submitted they can easily pull together a business plan which will become an invaluable tool for developing and improving their business.

We are sure that the 2018 Vision Insurance Awards Programme will enable all members, in all stages of their bed and breakfast operation, to be honoured, recognised, encouraged and rewarded for their hard work and efforts to become the very best in their business and in New Zealand.

Winners of the 2016 Excellence Award, Angie & Garth London from Whakaipo Lodge, Taupo say:
