The Power of Gathering

The Power of Gathering

Fellow Hosters.
We all know that running a bed and breakfast is a labour of love. The daily demands of our businesses can be both rewarding and challenging, but it's our shared passion for hospitality that unites us. One of the most valuable resources we have as members of the Bed and Breakfast Association is each other. And what better way to harness that resource than through regular monthly coffee morning meetings in each region of the country?

The Power of Gathering

Monthly coffee morning meetings are a platform for us hosts, to gather, share, and grow together. These meetings serve as a reminder that we are not alone in our endeavours and that our fellow B&B owners face similar joys and trials. The power of gathering is immeasurable, and these meetings can help us navigate the ever-changing landscape of the hospitality industry.   These gatherings can come in more than one form too. We don’t have to meet physically to stay in touch. For those of us in remote areas or during the busy season, ZOOM can be a great way of connecting. Also be flexible with the time. If you cannot get away from your business until nearer noon, make it a lunchtime meeting, whatever works for you in your region.

Offer of Support

Running a bed and breakfast can sometimes be a lonely endeavour, especially for those in rural or less populated areas. Monthly coffee morning meetings provide a support system where we can openly discuss our triumphs and setbacks. It's a chance to lend a sympathetic ear, offer advice, or simply share a reassuring word. In these meetings, we become a community that supports and uplifts one another.

Sharing ideas and Best Practices.

One of the most significant benefits of these meetings is the opportunity to share ideas and best practices. Each of us brings a unique perspective to the table, and when we come together, it helps us to not feel alone and also gives us a chance to pool our collective knowledge to find innovative solutions to common challenges. Whether it's discussing marketing strategies, guest experience enhancements, or sustainable practices, the wealth of information that we can exchange during these meetings is invaluable.

Growing Friendships and Professional Networks.

Friendships that develop during these meetings often extend beyond the coffee morning gatherings. These connections can blossom into long-lasting relationships both personally and professionally. Collaborations between B&B owners can lead to joint marketing efforts, referrals, and even shared resources. By expanding our networks, we strengthen our businesses and the bed and breakfast industry as a whole.

Collaborating with Colleagues.

Something to also consider, while monthly coffee morning meetings within our regions are incredibly beneficial, we can take it a step further by collaborating with colleagues from nearby regions. This cross-regional cooperation can open up new opportunities for growth and expansion. By learning from a diverse group of B&B owners, we can adapt to changing guest preferences and industry trends more effectively. Think about checking before you go away, maybe you could pop in and meet up with another regional group and expand your network.

In conclusion, whatever the size of your regional group or whichever platform you choose to meet with, the importance of regular monthly coffee morning meetings for each of us and for your region cannot be overstated. These gatherings foster a sense of community, provide a platform for idea sharing, offer much-needed support, and help us grow friendships and professional networks. By collaborating with colleagues, we can collectively elevate our businesses and contribute to the continued success of the bed and breakfast industry. So, if you haven’t seen your fellow hosters in a while or not had the chance to meet for a chat, reach out. We encourage all members to actively participate in these meetings, engage with your fellow hosters, and seize the opportunity to learn, share, laugh and thrive together.  Let's continue to build a stronger, more interconnected Bed and Breakfast Association, one coffee morning at a time.
